THE GIRARD FAMILY

Arthur Devillers, my great-grandfather started planting vines on the slopes of La Neuville aux Larris in the 1920s. My grandmother Andrée and my grandfather Edmond Girard started in the 1960s to make wine and sell the Girard-Devillers family champagne.

In 1983, my father Lionel Girard renamed the brand and took over the family business. I joined him after my wine studies in 2007. For 10 years by his side, he transmitted his know-how to me.

Since 2018, I have taken over the domain, which has grown thanks to the vines from my partner Virginie Heucq and my mother Claudette Marseille.

OUR domain

Today we cultivate 3.20 hectares of vines spread equally over the villages of La Neuville aux Larris, Fleury la Rivière and Montigny sous Châtillon, all three located on the right bank of the Marne Valley terroir.

Concerned about the environment, the quality of our soil and its biodiversity, it was important to me to no longer use herbicides. The soils are now worked mechanically on all our plots. Our domain has thus been certified HVE (High Environmental Value) and VDC (Sustainable Viticulture in Champagne).

Many other projects are also in progress including the elaboration in our cellars’ barrel of a plot cuvée from the terroir of Fleury la Rivière.
